The Little Engine That Could, choreographed by Jennifer Clagett Sommers and based on Watty Piper’s beloved story, follows an optimistic little train engine who believes in the power of perseverance. Through cheerful dancing, colorful characters and plenty of heart, this ballet reveals the extraordinary possibilities within us all. In Swan Lake – Act III, trumpets sound in the Royal Ballroom as Princesses from around the world arrive. The ballroom comes alive with the colors and rhythms of their national dances - but just as the celebration reaches its height, an unexpected and uninvited guest arrives, changing everything!
Metropolitan Ballet’s Family Concert Series is envisioned as a signature cultural gathering for the community: an experience that children, parents, and grandparents can enjoy together. These fully produced story ballets provide families and schools with an inspiring avenue to introduce young audiences to the art of dance, combining enchantment with artistic excellence. The series embodies Metropolitan Ballet’s mission to present world-class dance locally and to cultivate in people of all ages a lasting appreciation for the performing arts. We extend our profound gratitude to the many generous donors whose support makes these productions possible, and we warmly invite the community to share in their beauty.
