ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The township is seeking community volunteers to fill vacancies on two boards.

The Board of Commissioners is seeking residents interested in serving on the Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board.

Here's what the two positions offer:

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission reviews subdivision and land development applications and advises the Board of Commissioners on overall planning and development for the entire Township.

Meetings are on the 4th Tuesday of each month, 7:30 p.m., at the Abington Township Municipal Building Meeting Room, 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001, 2nd Floor.

Board members are Nicholas Brown (Chair), Lucy Strackhouse, Mavis Robinson, Charles DiCello, Glenn Cooper, Ronald Rosen, Daryl Baker, and Lance Weatherly.

Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board hears property owners' variance and special exception requests along with appeals of decisions made by the Township Zoning Officer.

Meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Abington Township Municipal Building Meeting Room, 1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001, 2nd Floor.

Board members are Laura Hanes (Chair), Steven Kline (Vice-Chair), Michael O'Connor, Kate Schoener, and Joseph Kuhls (Solicitor).
