Abington Area Schools Closing Tuesday Due To Storm

The Abington and Cheltenham School District will keep children at home for another day following the impact of this weekend's storm.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — As communities dig out from the weekend storm that brought heavy snow and ice accumulations to the region, not every school will be returning children to classes on Tuesday.

Abington, Cheltenham, and the Jenkintown school districts will all be closed on Tuesday.

All Abington School District schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday due to weather-related road and sidewalk conditions. The 7:30 p.m. meeting of the Board of School Directors will be held virtually via YouTube livestream.

The Cheltenham School District — which was closed on Monday for the storm — will operate on a Flexible Instruction Day schedule on Tuesday due to the storm's impact, school officials said.

School buildings will remain closed, and all activities are canceled for Tuesday, the school district stated. All school offices will be closed, and all staff will work virtually, school officials said.

The School District of Jenkintown will be closed on Tuesday due to the ongoing cleanup from Sunday’s storm.

This closure will be observed as a traditional snow day, with no in-person or virtual instruction and no expectation for students to complete schoolwork.
