Code Blue Weather Emergency Declared In Eastern Montco
With temperatures plummeting and wind gusts on Tuesday, Montgomery County officials enacted the weather emergency through Wednesday morning.

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Montgomery County is under a cold weather emergency as temperatures have tumbled, prompting an alert for shelters and services to help residents.
The county declared a Code Blue cold weather emergency that went into effect at 8 p.m. Monday and lasts until 8 a.m. on Wednesday. A Code Blue declaration allows Montgomery County to provide additional resources for residents.

Temperatures are expected to remain frigid, especially on Tuesday night when forecasters say temperatures will be just over 30 degrees, with winds of 25 mph, and wind gusts potentially rising to 40 mph.
County officials said that anyone who needs an emergency shelter should call the Your Way Home Call Center at 610-278-3522.

Montgomery County officials are providing the following tips to help combat the cold:
- Check on elderly friends and neighbors frequently to ensure that their homes are adequately heated.
- Make sure your car is winterized with antifreeze, a full tank of gas, properly inflated tires, and is stocked with an emergency kit.
- Check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Wear appropriate clothing and avoid prolonged exposure when going outdoors in winter weather.
- Limit pets' time outdoors during extreme temperatures.
- Report power outages directly to your utility company; do not call 911.
