Contractor Fraud On Rise In Cheltenham Twp.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Cheltenham Township Police Department has said the township has experienced an increase in contractor fraud.

Like several surrounding communities, police said that often, after or during a small repair, the homeowner will be told that an immediate repair is necessary and will be given a “discounted rate” if they pay a deposit that day.

That work is either completely unnecessary or the scammer will simply take the payment and never return, police said.

Police ask residents to use due diligence and seek second opinions when their homes require repair.
