Controversy Stirred After Montco School Disapproves Of Dad's Tractor Ride For Kids: Report

"If it was just me, I wouldn't make a deal about it. This is stopping my kids from having fun, so now I'm Mama Bear'd up."

A Montgomery County dad says that he’s “Mama Bear’d up” after a local school district tried to tell him that picking his kids up from school on a tractor with small wagons hitched to it was too dangerous, according to a story in The Intelligencer.

Christopher Malloy picked up his daughters, aged 8 and 5, from Fort Washington Elementary School after school one day and encountered some unexpected resistance, the report states. When the girls got in the tractor, which Malloy had driven two short blocks from their home to the school, a woman came up and reportedly said “Good, you’re leaving, this is dangerous.”

Principal Stephanie Hultquist allegedly emailed Malloy the next day telling him not to repeat the lawnmower ride for safety reasons, according to the report. Malloy, who said he used to be an engineer, said he “understands safety better than most people” and there is no danger.

When he asked for concrete reasons, the school district responded and said police would be involved, according to the report. However, police said that it is a school district matter and there would be no investigation.
