"A Cyber World of Trouble" a crash course for parents

When should children have their own cell phone, email account, iPad, PS4 and other tech treats? What are parental control options for these devices? Should you be concerned a slumber party will be hosted on YouTube by one of your child's friends? Can online photos and videos of your children compromise your family's safety and privacy?

National speaker, Katie Koestner, of Campus Outreach Services, will present a crash course on these and other things parents need to know to protect their children and themselves in an internet world.

Koestner's talk, "A Cyber World of Trouble" will take place on December 19th at 6:30 p.m. in the Shuttleworth Gymnasium at The Meadowbrook School in Meadowbrook, PA.

Topics to be addressed include: What are the best apps and games for children, and what are most addictive? Understand how web-companies keep our children online and what tactics are used to sell their products. Learn more about today's gaming world and gaming devices. Consider how your child's use of technology at age 10 may impact their college and employment options years later. Know more about types of cyber-bullying and positive cyber-socializing for young people.

No matter your personal technology comfort level, this program will keep you updated and in control of technology. This is a fun, informative program on everything parents need to know about cutting-edge technologies.
