El Limon Mexican Taqueria Opening New Montco Location

The Mexican restaurant chain has been expanding its footprint throughout the Greater Philadelphia region as of late.

GLENSIDE, PA — A popular Mexican eatery has announced it will soon be opening another location in the Greater Philadelphia area, this one in eastern Montgomery County.

El Limon Mexican Taqueria, a franchise business with locations throughout the region, is opening a new spot at Easton Road and Waverly Avenue in downtown Glenside.

The restaurant, which will be located in the portion of Glenside that sits within Cheltenham Township, (Glenside is split between Cheltenham and Abington), is going to occupy a space formerly home to Ann's Kitchen Table, according to reports.

Social media has been abuzz in response to the announcement.

"Looks great. Glad to see a good southwest restaurant come to the area," Bob Weiler wrote on a public Facebook neighbors' group in the Glenside area.

"That would be great, we love them!" added Lauren Jankowski.

Others questioned the choice of location, since El Limon already has eateries in nearby Flourtown, Conshohocken, Ambler, Hatboro, and also in neighboring Warrington, Bucks County.

The website Philly Voice reported that El Limon was founded in Conshohocken back in 2010 and has since expanded into a successful franchise with more than 20 locations throughout the region.

There are also locations outside of Montgomery County, in places like Delaware and Chester Counties, and also Northeast Philly.

The name for the restaurant reportedly is derived from the Mexican town from which the owners hail.

An opening date for the Glenside location has not yet been announced.

The business says on its website that those who dine in are treated to complimentary margaritas.

Some of the locations throughout the region also offer outdoor dining.
