Roberta Meek, jazz vocalist will be performing. Born in the jazz rich city of Philadelphia, Roberta Meek grew up living and breathing jazz. She came to performing somewhat late, taking a detour to raise her family, but when she hit the stage, she hit it hard! Roberta is an accomplished jazz vocalist who has performed throughout the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia areas. Her repertoire includes familiar jazz standards sprinkled with personal favorites that Roberta reshapes in a jazz rendition. Inspired by jazz greats Sarah Vaughn and Billie Holiday, Roberta Meek lives to carry on their jazz singing tradition, something she does with style spiced with a lot of love. In addition to performing jazz, Roberta is a historian specializing in African American history who teaches in Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley. She also enjoys presenting interactive presentations using Freedom Songs to tell the story of the African-American experience from slavery through the Civil Rights Movement.
