Our Lady Help of Christians Veterans Day Honor

Our Lady Help of Christians School (Abington PA) has planned a special way to honor veterans this coming Friday November 11th.  The School has invited a number of veterans to speak to the children about their military service. Mrs. Patricia Crossley, the kindergarten teacher at OLHC, who designed the program, said that “our children need to know how these folks served this country and the personal sacrifice they made for all of us.  It’s a message that must be taught and reinforced.  Just like 911, these people can never be forgotten”.  Mr. Jack Bellantoni, principal of OLHC added: “a number of families in our school have relatives currently serving and this is an opportunity to honor them as well”.

The School has a number of veterans prepared to speak and is also hoping to talk to one or two soldiers or veterans via Skype.  Mr. Bellantoni indicated that rather than have the honorees speak in the auditorium, each veteran will visit one or two classrooms so the children and veterans will really get to know each other.  “Our small class sizes are ideally suited to these situations and offer our children an exceptional opportunity for in-depth instruction and personal experience”.
