Ex-PSU Abington Student Getting Deported For ISIS Ties: Report
The Philadelphia man will be deported to Russia for making false statements to the FBI during an international terrorism investigation.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —A former Penn State Abington student will be deported to Russia after serving a year in prison for making false statements to the FBI during an international terrorism investigation, a report states.
Kamal Fataliev, 20, who lives in Philadelphia and is a U.S. permanent resident with Russian citizenship, will be deported to Russia after spending just over a year in prison, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Fataliev was arrested and charged by indictment on charges of making false statements to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in July 2023, U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero said.

Fataliev was accused of posting more than 200 manuals for making bombs, poison, and weapons to terrorism-related chat groups involving ISIS, The Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness said.
According to the Inquirer report, an investigation began after federal authorities discovered more than 700 messages between Fataliev and one of the suspected plotters from a planned Memorial Day attack in Chicago in 2022.

He was also indicted in July 2023 after being accused of lying to the FBI about his supposed ties to “ISIS sympathizers.”
Fataliev is a Pennsbury High School graduate who was a member of the Business Leadership Team and maintained a 3.99 GPA while working in IT support for the university, according to Penn State Abington’s website.
