Extra Enforcement Planned In Abington School Zones
Abington Township Police are offering safety guidelines with school starting on Tuesday.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The Abington Township Police Department is providing residents tips for student safety with the 2024-2025 school year starting.
The Abington Township Police Department and the Traffic Safety Unit are committed to keeping pedestrians safe.
Police have provided helpful guidelines for dropping off and picking up children and information regarding special traffic enforcement details happening during the first few weeks of school.

The first day of school in the Abington School District is Tuesday, Sept. 3, for kindergarten through sixth grades and ninth grade, and Wednesday, Sept. 4, for grades 7 and 8, and 10 through 12.
While picking up or dropping off your child from school, please follow these guidelines:

- Park ONLY in non-restricted areas
- Do NOT park in the posted “NO PARKING AREAS”
- Do NOT double-park
- Do NOT stop or otherwise block the streets around your child’s school.
- Do NOT block the driveways of area residents
In addition, the police department's Traffic Safety Unit will be conducting extra enforcement details in all area school zones during the first few weeks.
Residents are also reminded that the speed limit in all school zones while the lights are flashing is 15 mph.
