Man Killed In Cheltenham Cemetery Shooting

Cheltenham Police said the shooting happened at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery early Wednesday morning.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — A 42-year-old Philadelphia man was killed in a shooting at a township cemetery early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and Cheltenham Township Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Brian Horter, 42, of Philadelphia.

Authorities said Horter was found in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery near the intersection of Murdoch Road and Cheltenham Avenue in Glenside just after midnight, suffering from a gunshot wound.

At 12:09 a.m. on Wednesday, Cheltenham Township Police responded to the cemetery after receiving several 911 calls regarding a gunshot being heard.

Police arrived to find Horter suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Abington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A firearm was recovered at the scene.

A joint investigation into the death has been launched by Montgomery County Detectives and Cheltenham Police.
