#FightWeek Crisis Puts Local High School On High Alert
The #AbingtonFightWeek posts on social media have caused concern at a Montgomery County high school.

ABINGTON, PA -- Abington High School is on high alert after “AbingtonFightWeek” posts appeared on social media and five fistfights occurred at the school in the past week, school officials said in a notice on their website.
Amy Sichel, the superindendent of schools, was adamant that no students or school employees had been injured in any of the incidents. She added that no weapons were involved in any of the fights.
In one case, a student who was “out of control” punched a school resource officer.
The fights began outside of school, and administrators are investigating the issue alongside the Abington Police Department.
Sichel said that when the situation warranted, students were arrested by police.
An #AbingtonFightClub Instagram page, which has since been taken down, featured videos of the school fights, PhillyVoice reported.
Despite claims of no injuries, the videos show boys brawling in a stairwell, with one kicking another in the head. In another incident in the bathroom, two other boys exchange a series of blows.
It’s unclear if the AbingtonFightWeek hashtag began before or after the fights, or which one was the cause and which the effect.
Officials are asking parents to monitor the social media activity of their children.
Meanwhile, dozens of social media posts can be found online with the #AbingtonFightWeek hashtag.
