Firearm Stolen From Unlocked Vehicle In Rockledge
Rockledge Police Chief John Gallagher is asking residents to lock their vehicles and to keep firearms out of them after a weekend incident.
ROCKLEDGE BOROUGH, PA —Police are investigating a firearm stolen over the weekend in the borough.
Rockledge Police Chief John Gallagher said a suspect entered an unlocked vehicle overnight Friday into Saturday that was parked on North Sylvania Avenue near Huntingdon Pike.
The chief said a firearm was stolen from the unlocked vehicle, but that the owner reported it right away and the assigned detective was able to alert Montgomery County Police Radio, which, in turn, made a computerized entry so that other police departments would be aware of this stolen firearm if/when recovered.

Gallagher is reminding residents to lock vehicles, and park in private driveways or well-lit areas on the street, if possible. Use steering wheel locks, if available, and activate vehicle alarms. Also, take an extra step by locking glove compartments and/or center consoles, if they are equipped with locks.
He also stressed that residents do not leave their firearms in vehicles. If your firearm is stolen from a vehicle and you have License to Carry a Concealed Weapon, then the issuing authority can/will be notified and your license can be revoked under a Just Cause standard (carelessness, negligence, disregard for firearm safety).
