Girl, 13, Struck By Vehicle In Abington Township
The teenager was struck on the sidewalk by a vehicle that was speeding in Glenside Friday afternoon, police said.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —A 13-year-old girl was injured after being struck by a speeding vehicle at the intersection of Jenkintown Road and Abington Avenue in the township's Glenside section on Friday afternoon, police said.
Abington Township Police said two men were speeding and driving recklessly, failed to stop for the red traffic signal at the intersection, and struck a vehicle traveling through the intersection with a green light.
After the crash, the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and struck a 13-year-old pedestrian, who a crossing guard had safely crossed, police said.

The teenager was standing on the sidewalk talking with the crossing guard when she was struck. After striking the vehicle and the pedestrian, both occupants fled on foot, police said.
They were quickly apprehended by police officers and placed under arrest.

The driver, 21-year-old Jason MacDonald from Philadelphia, will be charged with numerous felonies related to aggravated assault, reckless driving, and fleeing an accident.
The passenger, 21-year-old Goldwin Prince from Philadelphia was armed with an illegally possessed handgun when he was arrested. He will be charged with firearms violations and possession of marijuana, police said.
The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to Abington Jefferson Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident and criminal offenses remain an active investigation.
