Grace Packer's Life Remembered at Memorial Service Monday

Five local mothers organized the memorial service for slain teenager Grace Packer, despite never having met her.

A memorial service for slain teenager Grace Packer was held in Abington on Monday, as hundreds of members of the community gathered to pay tribute to a girl whom most of them had never met.

The service was organized by five area mothers, who have also launched a foundation in Grace's honor, called On Gracie's Wings. Among the local mothers organizing the event was Andrea Green-Adams, who has helmed the GoFundMe that, as of Tuesday afternoon, had already raised $13,107. She has children that attend Abington Junior High School, but she never met Grace.

"We are going to help foster children when they turn 18 transition into adulthood and we are also going to make care packages for the children in the system so they have their own belongings when placed into a new home," Green-Adams wrote. "We are going to work with our local parks and recreation department and have a memorial bench made in Gracie's name. We are also going to working on a butterfly garden as that was important to Gracie."

The service was held at the New Life Church in Glenside. In addition to those in attendance, more than 1,600 have joined the Facebook page In Memory of Grace Packer.

Grace's mother, Sara Packer has been charged with Grace's murder. Sara's boyfriend Jacob Sullivan has also been charged. The pair allegedly kidnapped, raped, poisoned, and eventually strangled Grace in Bucks County before dismembering her body and stashing it in the woods. It was a horrifying ending to a six-month long tragedy that began when Grace first went missing on July 11.
