Home Burglaries Reported In Abington Township

Abington Police said one residential burglary and one attempted burglary were reported during or after dinner hours on March 19.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Abington Police are alerting residents after a burglary and an attempted burglary were reported at two homes last Thursday in the township's Meadowbrook and Huntingdon Valley sections.

Both incidents happened during or after dinner hours. In each case, the suspects entered or tried to enter by breaking the glass of a sliding door, police said.

Abington Police did not release additional details about the homes, the suspects, or the exact times of the incidents.

The police department is asking residents to watch their neighborhoods closely and contact police when something seems suspicious.

Abington Police said residents should call immediately if a vehicle is stopped or parked in a neighborhood or nearby parking lot and seems suspicious or uncommon.

Police also asked residents to contact them if they see unfamiliar people walking through the area, especially in rear yards near wooded areas, or if they hear glass breaking or other suspicious noises.

Residents were also urged to report anyone around a neighbor’s home or any unfamiliar vehicle. The department said leaving some lights on and setting an alarm can help prevent a burglary.

In all cases, police said it is important to call 911 immediately and that callers may remain anonymous if they prefer.
