HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA —A house was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm that moved into the region Wednesday night, fire officials said.

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company responded at 9 p.m. Wednesday to a fire on High Road near Red Lion Road.

The homeowner reported the house was struck by lightning and filling with smoke, fire officials said.

Fire crews deployed multiple hand lines to extinguish significant fire in the basement.

The fire also traveled through a wall to the roof which was also extinguished, fire officials said.

Crews checked for any additional extensions and did extensive overhauls.

Units on the scene included Squad 8, Engine 8, Utility 8, Engine 9, Squad 9, Quint 10, Engine 11, Special Service 11, Quint 99, Squad 100, Ladder 100, Bucks Ladder 1, Bucks Ladder 2, Bucks Rescue 4, Medic 355, 8 Fire Police, Lower Moreland PD, and Engine 200 for station cover.

No injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal is investigating the house fire.

"We thank all of our mutual aid companies, and Montgomery County Fire Radio for the assistance on this assignment. Shout out to the great team at Wawa on Philmont Ave for filling our large food order at midnight for our station," the fire company said.
