ICE Activity Reported In Abington
Abington Police issued a statement to try to calm fears Friday about ICE activity in the township.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Abington Township Police Department is trying to calm fears of residents after ICE activity was reported on Friday morning.
"We are aware that federal immigration authorities (ICE) were in the area looking for one specific individual who we understand is out on bail for a sex-related offense," police said in a statement.
Abington Police said they were advised that the activity was a "targeted effort."

"We are sharing this information to help calm concerns about a larger operation or broader enforcement activity," police said.
Numerous protests have taken place throughout the Philadelphia region regarding ICE activity in the nation and in Minnesota, which led to the deaths of two residents.

Abington Police Chief Patrick Molloy recently addressed how his police department and others in Montgomery County would handle ICE activity when it appeared in the area.
