Jenkintown Seeks Part-Time Parking Enforcement Officers

JENKINTOWN, PA —The borough is seeking part-time parking enforcement officers.

The hourly pay rate is $20 and the job is for 25-30 hours a week. The officers would report to the police chief.

Borough officials said that the primary purpose of the position is to provide parking enforcement and community safety support to the Jenkintown Police Department.

Enforcement officers will serve as first contact with the public, performing a variety of complex and technical customer service functions that allow police to provide residents and business owners quality service.

Officers are responsible for the enforcement of parking and borough ordinances and issuing parking/fire lane/handicap tickets.

They will assist with the record-keeping function of parking enforcement activities; provide testimony at judicial hearings and trials when required, and interact with members of the business community and the public.

Officers will also attend meetings, receive mandatory training, and educational seminars; collect money from parking meters; and maintain and repair meters.

They will cover school crossings when school crossing guards are not available or when staffing is required, interact with department employees, and the public, governmental, and borough officials courteously and professionally, operate office equipment, and perform other related duties as necessary to support the parking enforcement functions.

Other duties include providing traffic control, assisting with public relations, and covering traffic posts during special events that occur within the borough.
