Kids Helping Kids in Flourtown

Saint Genevieve School students give to area children in need.

Kids Helping Kids

Looking for a way to help area children in need, Student Council Members from Saint Genevieve School in Flourtown, established a Penny Pool Race. Each March, students from Kindergarten to 8th Grade start saving their copper and silver coins in preparation for the school's annual race. For two days each morning, students pour their copper and silver coins into separate buckets outside of classrooms. The air throughout the school building is filled with a friendly competition to see who will be the first to fill their buckets with the most coins. First Graders, Cailyn McCarthy and Marin Ledwith said, "The Penny Pool Race is a lot of fun and we like being able to help kids in need."
This year's Penny Pool Race collected over $2,000.00 to be distributed among different charities. Some of those charities are: Lily's Hope, Catholic Charities Appeal for Special Education Schools, CHOP, SSJ Welcome Center, and Face to Face in Germantown.
