HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA —A malfunctioning appliance appears to be the cause of a house fire on Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company responded at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday to a house fire on Propert Drive.

Fire officials said a caller reported smoke in the basement. Squad 8 arrived at the scene, confirmed there was a moderate smoke condition in the basement, and requested a working fire upgrade.

Fire crews found the cause to be a malfunctioning appliance, secured it, and ventilated the smoke in the home.

No injuries were reported.

Units responding included Squad 8, Squad 9, Squad 11, Ladder 99, Ladder 100, Bucks Rescue 4, Tri-Hampton EMS, Station 8 Fire Police.
