Montco Household Chemical Collection

Montgomery County will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Sunday, July 20th from 9-3 in the parking lot of Abington Junior High School, rain or shine.  The entrance will be on Tyler Road.  Event workers will unload your materials so please remain in your vehicle.  

Toxic and flammable household chemicals are collected for proper disposal. Acceptable items include gasoline, oil, kerosene, turpentine, paint thinner, oil paint, stains, varnish, pool chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, antifreeze, caustic cleaners and solvents, mercury, thermometers, flares, fire extinguishers, electric oil heaters, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent tube light bulbs, and CFL bulbs. Containers will be emptied and returned to you upon request.

Do Not Bring electronics, appliances, asbestos, explosives, ammunition, medical waste,radioactive waste, smoke detectors, items containing Freon, tires or the following:

  • Alkaline Household Batteries are not hazardous and should be thrown in the trash.
  • Prescription Medications should be disposed of in the secure drop boxes locatedin many area police stations, a list of which can be found in the Recycling Guideat MontgomeryCountyRecycles.org.
  • Propane or Helium Tanks should be taken to locations listed in the RecyclingGuide at MontgomeryCountyRecycles.org.
