A fisherman had sunk to the bottom of the sea after being swept out by a dangerous tide. That's when a local man leapt into action.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA - A Plymouth man was honored by fire officials for a daring sea rescue of a fisherman caught in a current in Cape May Point over the summer.

Jeff Idler, 55, who has a summer home there on Lincoln Avenue, was drinking coffee on his back porch on the morning of July 17 when he heard a scream coming from the ocean, according to a report.

That’s when he saw a fisherman who had been swept about 100 yards offshore by an eddy in the dangerous waters where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, the Press of Atlantic City reports.
