New School Year Starting Next Week In Eastern Montco

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The last few days of summer break are coming to a close as students return to classes in most communities on Monday.

With Labor Day a little later this year, most school districts are starting the 2026-2027 school year before the holiday that marks the "unofficial end" of summer.

These are the school districts in eastern Montgomery County starting school on Monday or just after:

• Cheltenham School District — The day of school for all K-12 students is Monday.
• Hatboro-Horsham School District — The first day of school for all K-12 students is Monday.
• The School District of Jenkintown — The first day of school for all K-12 students is Monday.
• Lower Moreland Township School District — The first day of school for students is Monday.
• Upper Dublin School District — The first day of school for students is Monday.
• Upper Moreland Township School District — The first day of school for students is Monday.

Some districts, though, will keep tradition alive and start the school year after the Labor Day holiday:

• Abington School District — The first day of school for all K-12 students is Tuesday, Sept. 8.
