Penn Community Bank Merges With Abington's Chelten Hills Savings

A new bank will be opening in Abington after a merger has brought Penn Community Bank to Montgomery County.

ABINGTON, PA — A new bank will be opening in Abington after a merger has brought Penn Community Bank to Montgomery County.

Penn Community announced its merger with Abington-based Chelten Hills Savings Bank on Tuesday.

Chelten Hills had been looking for a community bank with which it could partner in order to offer its longtime customers expanded financial services and convenience, according to a press release.

“We are excited to bring our full range of financial products and friendly service to the Abington area,” Jeane M. Coyle, President and CEO of Penn Community Bank said in a statement. “At Penn Community Bank, we focus on developing long-lasting relationships with our customers; we look forward to being a trusted partner and financial resource for our new neighbors in Montgomery County for many years to come.”

Chelten Hills had only one location, located on 946 Old York Road in Abington.

Penn Community said that they are currently looking for a new location to expand in Montgomery County, where they will continue to serve Chelten Hills' customers.

Chelten Hills' two full-time employees have both been offered positions at Penn Community.
