As the coronavirus outbreak continues, Penn State has announced that no on campus instruction will take place this semester.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — As the coronavirus outbreak continues, Penn State has announced that no on campus instruction will take place this semester. It's an extension of a plan announced just a week ago, when the university had said that the closure of campus would be in place for a "minimum" of two weeks.

All courses and exams will be completed remotely. The university added that the closure would extend "at least" through the spring.

Gov. Wolf's ordered shutdown of all schools and nonessential businesses is in place through at least March 27.

Penn State said they were working on addressing issues like room and board refunds, on-campus jobs, internships, research projects, and retrieval of belongings from campus housing. Details on the resolution of these issues were not immediately known.

“We encourage all students to be patient as they await further guidance and support," Penn State President Eric J. Barron said in the announcement.

Spring commencement has been postponed as well, and the university is looking at alternative options to celebrate student achievement.

There are 133 cases of coronavirus in Pennsylvania as of Wednesday morning.
