Philly Mural, Painted By Pope Francis And 2700 Others, Breaks Guiness World Record
The mural is set to break a rare Guiness World Record.

The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program is teaming up with the The World Meeting of Families to create a commemorative mural honoring Pope Francis and his mission in Philadelphia.
The mural, entitled The Sacred Now: Faith and Family in the 21st Century, was painted by 2,700 people, including Pope Francis.
The dynamic mural stands to receive the Guinness World Record for “Most Contributions to a Painting by Numbers,” according to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

In total, participants representing more than 100 countries have helped paint the mural.
Honoring the recent visit of Pope Francis to Philadelphia and spanning three building facades at the future home of Saint Malachy School, the final record-setting mural consists of 153 individual panels measuring 5’ x 5’ in size, encompassing 4,239 total square feet.

An event celebrating the mural will be held on Monday, November 30 from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. the future home of the Saint Malachy School on 1012 W. Thompson Street.
Bishop John McIntyre and Mayor Nutter will be on hand at the event.
