President, CEO of Sanford Alderfer Companies Honored by Boy Scouts at Century Club Dinner

The Cradle of Liberty Council, Boy Scouts of America, honored Sanford L. Alderfer at their 55th Annual Malcolm A. Schweiker Century Club Dinner at Indian Valley Country Club recently. The dinner honors a local business leader for their selfless contributions to the community and the “Scout” like way they lead their professional and personal life.

Alderfer is the President and CEO of the Sanford Alderfer Companies, a company started by his father Sanford A. Alderfer in 1959, which specializes in ethically and creatively helping people manage the maze of property in transition. He has been a licensed Auctioneer and Realtor since 1973 and has been fully engaged in the Auction business since 1983. Alderfer has strong ties to the community as a graduate of Christopher Dock Mennonite High School. He is active in various professional organizations, including the National Auctioneers Association (NAA), the National Auctioneers Foundation (NAF), the Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association (PAA) and the Lehigh Valley Society of Auctioneers (LVSA). He was inducted in the NAA Hall of Fame in 2012, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the National Auctioneers Foundation. He has served on the board of the Certified Auctioneers Institute, the board of directors of the National Auctioneers Association, served as President of the PAA and was honored as the Auctioneer of the Year in 2005. He is a member of the Montgomery County Association of Realtors (MCAR), Pennsylvania Association of Realtors (PAR) and National Association of Realtors (NAR). Alderfer serves on the boards of many community organizations and local businesses including: the Montgomery County 4-H Foundation, Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, Harleysville Savings Bank, Goodville Mutual Insurance Company, Spruce Lake Christian Retreat, Indian Creek Foundation and North Penn United Way. He is a member of Salford Mennonite Church and of the Souderton/Telford Rotary.

The Century Club Dinner was first started by Malcolm A. Schweiker, the founder and Chairman of Olean Tile Co. in Lansdale, to engage the local business leaders in a dinner to support Scouting. Some of the past recipient of this award have included: Ken and Butch Clemens, Tom Leidy, Bob Swartley, Jay Glickman, Michael Browne, Raymond De Hont and Rob Wonderling. The dinner continues to benefit the Scouts in Harleysville, Lansdale, Souderton, Hatfield and surrounding communities. Currently the Cradle of Liberty Council serves over 16,500 boys and girls in Montgomery, Delaware and Philadelphia Counties.
