Public Hearing Set Over Abington Housing Grant
Abington officials will discuss the township's housing, community, and economic development needs during the hearing early next month.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The township will hold a public hearing early next month to discuss its housing, community, and economic development needs.
The township has scheduled the public hearing for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, at the Township Building, 1176 Old York Road, First Floor Conference Room, Abington, and by virtual conference call.
Officials said the public hearing is to discuss the housing, community, and economic development needs for the township’s FY 2026 Annual Action Plan, which the township must submit to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement Funds Program.

Officials anticipate a CDBG entitlement grant for $715,339 for Fiscal Year 2026. The estimate is based on what the township received last year.
In order to receive the funds, the township must prepare a One Year Annual Action Plan for the use of the CDBG funds.

Officials said that at least 70 percent of the CDBG funds must benefit low- to moderate-income persons living in the township. The township is asking residents, local agencies, and interested parties to participate in the planning process.
