Public Meeting Seeks Input On 2 Abington Pools

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The township will hold a public meeting on Wednesday to get community feedback on the improvement of two pools.

The meeting takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Township Building, 1176 Old York Road, and virtually via Zoom.

Residents will be albe to provide feedback and see how community ideas have shaped the draft plans for Abington's pools at Crestmont and Penbryn Parks.

Township officials said they are developing a plan to modernize facilities in response to the findings of the 2018 pool study which found that the pools are past their expected life span and cannot be renovated.

The study will also align with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCNR) Pool Feasibility Scope of Work to enable the Township to apply for DCNR grants for any construction efforts.

The goals for the study include:

• Create inclusive, accessible, and welcoming pool and park environments for residents of all ages and abilities.
• Modernize aquatic facilities to improve safety, comfort, and user experience.
• Expand opportunities for health, wellness, recreation, and community connection.
• Integrate pool improvements with broader park upgrades—paths, shade, seating, landscaping, and neighborhood access.
• Promote environmental sustainability through efficient systems and resilient site design.
• Ensure financially responsible and sustainable long‑term operations.
• Engage the community throughout the process to guide decision‑making.
