Route 611 Lanes To Be Shut Down In Abington Next Week

ABINGTON, PA -- Lane restrictions on Route 611 in Abington next week could lead to additional traffic in the area, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.
Closures are scheduled between Jericho Road and Hamilton Avenue in Abington for Sunday March, 26 through Saturday, April 1, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., officials said.
This operation is part of a $3.6 million project to rehabilitate the structurally deficient bridge carrying Edge Hill Road over Route 611, officials said.

Edge Hill Road has been shut down and detoured between Ferndale and Hamilton avenues, work which will be completed in late fall of 2017, PennDOT said.
Edge Hill Road passenger vehicles are being detoured over Susquehanna Road, Fitzwatertown Road and Old Welsh Road. Trucks are being directed over Jenkintown Road, Fitzwatertown Road and Old Welsh Road.

The bridge, which was built in 1947, carries an average of 7,138 vehicles per day, officials said. The project costs $3.6 million.
