Safe Schools Assessments Underway In Cheltenham

The Cheltenham schools superintendent provided an update on the safety and behavioral assessments for the school district.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Safety and behavioral assessments are underway for schools in the Cheltenham School District, officials said.

Schools Superintendent Brian Scriven provided an update on the assessments conducted by the Center for Safe Schools.

Scriven said at the school board's Feb. 10 meeting that the safety assessment report for Cheltenham High School should be completed by Tuesday, along with a behavioral assessment report for Cheltenham Elementary School, which included nearly 30 interviews.

He said the Center for Safe Schools hopes to have the behavioral assessment reports for CBK and CHS by Feb. 19.

The Center for Safe Schools wants to schedule the remaining assessments by the end of March.

The following safety assessments still need to be completed for Cheltenham Elementary School, Wyncote Elementary School, CBK East Middle School, and Cedarbrook Middle School.

The superintendent said that the following assessments have been completed or scheduled to be completed:

  • Cheltenham HS Safety: 12/09/25
  • Cheltenham HS Behavioral: 01/06/26
  • Cedarbrook MS Behavioral: 01/07/26
  • Cheltenham ES Behavioral: 01/08/26
  • Glenside ES Safety: 03/10/26
  • Myers ES Safety: 03/12/26

In other school board business:

  • The board approved a resolution for the Public School Facility Improvement grant for up to $5 million for the repair or replacement of eligible mechanical system improvements at Cheltenham High School.
  • The board approved the service agreement between Bucks County Intermediate Unit and the Cheltenham School District for co-design and development of the 2026-2031 strategic plan.
