Salus University President Michael H. Mittelman, OD ‘80, MPH, MBA, FAAO, FACHE, recently announced the appointment of Beth Moy as the new chief of staff, effective December 9, 2021. Moy succeeds Brian Zuckerman, JD, in the position at Salus.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Beth has joined our team at Salus,” Dr. Mittelman said. “Her wealth of experience working in higher education as well as her unparalleled leadership and communication skills will help bring Salus to our next level of excellence.”

In addition to serving the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention and Industrial Development Boards in Montgomery County, Moy is the former executive director of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education (SEPCHE), a consortium of nine independent higher education institutions in the Greater Philadelphia region. She has more than 20 years of experience in both higher education and the nonprofit sector.

“Working on the administrative side to support the work of faculty and students will give me a different view of the University,” Moy said. “I’m excited to work with this team of experienced, operational leaders. I look forward to learning with them.”

In her new role at Salus, she will work closely with Dr. Mittelman to carry out policy initiatives and oversee all administrative matters of the University. Moy will also work with the President’s Council and University administration.

“There are few cabinets as diverse as this one, and that is part of what attracted me to Salus,” Moy said. “They’re a super-talented, high performing team.”

Prior to joining Salus, Moy served as both director of special projects and director of constituent services for former Philadelphia City Councilmember Happy Fernandez and then as fundraising coordinator and scheduler for Fernandez’s mayoral campaign in 1998-99. In 1999, she joined Moore College of Art and Design as director of development and capital campaign director before moving over to academic planning and continuing education in 2005. Moy holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas, Austin, and a Master of Social Work degree in administration and planning from Temple University.

As Moy settles in as the University’s new chief of staff, she will focus on building relationships with faculty and staff.

“These are top-notch faculty doing really innovative work,” Moy said. “Students are getting an amazing education that integrates interdisciplinary expertise with cultural competence, creativity and flexibility — exactly the things we want emerging graduates to have as leading healthcare practitioners. I am moved by the mission at Salus and I’m excited to be able to contribute to it.”
