Several Roads Closed From Storm Damage In Abington Twp.

Abington Township Police said the area suffered numerous downed trees and wires that have closed roads from Tuesday night's storm.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Several roads are closed Wednesday following storm damage from the night before, police said.

Due to the storm Tuesday night, there were about 50 tree, and/or tree and wire incidents, that closed or impeded roads in the township. Most of the closures were cleared by the public works department throughout the night.

However, several roads remained closed on Wednesday:

  • Edge Hill Road is closed between Benezet/Woodland due to trees and wires across the roadway.
  • Cedar Road is closed between Jenkintown/Martin due to trees and wires across the roadway.
  • The 2400 block of Lafayette is closed mid-block due to trees and wires across the roadway.
  • Jenkintown Road is closed between Evergreen and Wellington due to trees and wires hanging across the roadway.

There are several traffic lights on generators as well, so please proceed with caution.

PECO has been advised of all these. Once the wires are secured, Public Works will remove the trees and open the roads, police said.
