Sharing their Pain
Magnificent exhibition of portraits of victims of gun violence by local artists
I wonder if you know about this amazing exhibition. I am in this show. The opening was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever had. The emotion was almost unbearable. Hundreds came to see an exhibition of loved ones who had fallen victim to gun violence in our city. It was beyond powerful to meet families of victims and to help them bear their heavy burden. It's quite a story. Senator Art Heywood who spoke at the reception has arranged for the exhibition to travel to the PA State House. This will be one of several places that will host this exhibition. Really worth a visit. Here's the contact info for the folks who ran it- pcchmusicandarts@gmail.com As one of the artists I was thanked over and over again by many people having nothing to do with my particular piece, for having participated. One woman of a young man, who looked exactly like him, cried as she thanked me for helping her through her pain. My piece was not about her son yet she said she felt she had support because I had depicted someone in a caring way. I met the artist who did not know the family, but he brought comfort to them through his art.
