Staff Threatened After Firearm Shown At Abington Pool

Abington Police is investigating the incident that shut down the Penbryn Pool on Sunday.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A township pool was closed Sunday after someone showed a firearm and threatened staff, police said.

The Abington Township Police Department said that an incident occurred at Penbryn Pool on Sunday involving a guest and staff.

During the incident, the individual reportedly displayed a firearm and threatened staff, police said.

A decision was made to close the pool out of an abundance of caution. Police said the situation was quickly contained.

"We want to assure our community that this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat," police said.
