Storm Shuts Several Abington Township Roads

A fast-moving storm brought torrential rains and flash flooding on Wednesday night, causing damage to roads in Abington and Jenkintown.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A thunderstorm on Wednesday evening brought damaging winds, torrential rain, and flash flooding.

That storm damage has also closed several township roads on Thursday morning, the Abington Township Police Department said.

  • 1000 Block of Old Huntingdon Pike between Rhodes and Jane Road due to a tree down with wires.
  • Jenkintown Road between High School Road and Osceola Road due to a broken pole.
  • West Avenue between Township Line and Jenkintown Road due to a broken pole.
  • Mill Road between Susquehanna and Moredon Roads due to wires and tree down.
  • 700 Block of Seminole Road due to a tree down with wires.
  • Dead end of Susquehanna Road due to wires, trees, and poles down.
