Teens Crashed Stolen Car In Abington: Police

Police used drones and a K9 team from Hatboro to locate one of the teens after he and another crashed a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Two teens from Philadelphia were taken into custody Friday after crashing a stolen vehicle, Abington Township Police said.

Police were called to the 200 block of Edgehill Road at about 11:48 a.m. for a report of a car crash.

Police learned two people fled from the car after the crash.

They also discovered the vehicle, a Kia Sportage, had a punched ignition and the car was later confirmed to have been stolen out of Philadelphia an hour before the crash, police said.

The driver was taken into custody shortly after the crash in the area of the 200 block of Elm Avenue, police said.

The other suspect located in the area of Ivy Lane and Monroe Avenue via drones and a K9 team from Hatboro, police said.

He was taken into custody after a foot chase near Hamel Avenue and Laurel Lane, according to police.

Both were identified as teens from Philadelphia, one of whom had an ankle bracelet on from Philadelphia Probation and was in the National Crime Information Center as a missing juvenile.

Their identities and ages were not released.
