Thefts From Vehicles Prompt Abington Police To Offer Safety Tips

Abington Police said in the recent incidents, credit cards were stolen from vehicles then later used at a local Walmart.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Abington Township offered tips to keep vehicles and items safe after two recent theft from vehicle incidents.

The first incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on June 16 along the 800 block of Township Line Road in the Elkins Park section of the township.

A man driving a silver Buick stole a wallet from a vehicle parked on that block, police said.

After taking the wallet, the suspect used credit cards in the wallet at a local Walmart.

The other incident occurred at about 5 a.m. on July 5 on Foothill Drive in the Huntingdon Valley section of the township.

Abington Township Police

A man on a bike went into a property in that area then rifled through unlocked vehicles, police said.

The man stole two credit cards and used them at a local Walmart.

Anyone who can identify the men above is asked to contact Abington Township Police at 267-536-1100.

Police offered these tips to help keep vehicles and items secure:

  • Always lock your vehicle, even when it’s parked in your driveway or garage.
  • Always take your keys or fob with you.
  • Never leave wallets, purses, or other valuables in your vehicle.
  • Never leave your car running while unattended or unlocked.
