Charges Coming After 'Prank' Threats Toward Abington Middle School
A juvenile will be charged after admitting to making a "prank" threat of a shooting at Abington Middle School, police said Thursday.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A juvenile will be charged after Abington Township Police said "prank" threats were made toward the Abington Middle School Wednesday.
Police said a student at the school got a Snapchat message Wednesday saying a school shooting would happen Thursday. The Abington School District said in a letter to families that a student made threatening comments related to bringing a gun to school.
That message, police said, was then shared to numerous students at the school.

The initial recipient's mother contacted police and the Abington Middle School Resource Officer conducted an immediate investigation, which led to the identification of the message's sender.
Police said the sender was a friend of the initial recipient.

The sender told police they sent the message but said it was intended to be a prank.
Police confirmed that the juvenile has no access to weapons, and there was no risk to the school or students.
