Traffic: Old York Road Utility Work Begins Sept. 26
Southbound drivers will be re-routed onto Route 63 (Moreland Road), Edge Hill Road and Old Welsh Road, PennDOT said.
ABINGTON, PA — Utility construction will close part of Old York Road in Abington from late September into December, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
The closure will be between Moreland Road and Old Welsh Road, a news release said. Southbound Old York Road (Route 611) will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights, from Monday, Sept. 26 to Monday, Dec. 12.
"During the closure, passenger vehicles will be directed to use Route 63 (Moreland Road), Edge Hill Road and Old Welsh Road," PennDOT said. "Flagging operations will be in place for large trucks to travel through the work zone."

PECO Energy will be installing gas mains, the department of transportation said.
"Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur," PennDOT said. "All scheduled activities are weather dependent."

PECO Energy is completing the project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit, the news release said.
