Volunteers Wanted For Abington Boards, Commissions

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The Abington Township Board of Commissioners is seeking volunteers to serve on various boards and commissions.

The township has vacancies on the Human Relations Commission, Planning Commission, Vacant Property Review Board, and Zoning Hearing Board.

Interested individuals should submit a written expression of interest and resume online at www.abingtonpa.gov/bcccapplication.

Here is a description of the open positions:

• The Human Relations Commission reviews, investigates, and attempts to mitigate complaints charging improper practices of discrimination.
• The Planning Commission reviews subdivision and land development applications and advises the Board of Commissioners on overall planning and development for the entire Township.
• The Vacant Property Review Board advises the Township in matters relating to the requisition, disposition, and redevelopment of properties acquired through the certification process.
• The Zoning Hearing Board hears property owner's variance and special exceptions requests along with appeals of decisions made by the Township Zoning Officer.
