Water mains broke across Cheltenham late Tuesday night into Wednesday, leading to dangerously icy conditions and loss of water service.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Water mains broke across Cheltenham Township late Tuesday night into Wednesday, leading to dangerous conditions on many roads, authorities said.

A six inch line at 600 Cheltenham Avenue broke first, leading to damage to the sidewalk and road, officials said.

Then at Old Soldiers and Woodland, a water main break caused a sinkhole which a township salt truck crashed into (and is pictured above). Fortunately, the driver was not injured and the truck was removed.
