Wyncote School Earns Elite Blue Ribbon School Distinction
It's one of only two schools in Montgomery County to be named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

WYNCOTE, PA -- A private Wyncote elementary school has earned a rare, elite distinction from the U.S. Department of Education.
Ancillae Assumpta Academy has been announced as one of Pennsylvania's 19 National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2018. It's one of only two Montgomery County schools to receive the honor.
All told, 349 schools were recognized as being National Blue Ribbon Schools in 2018. Of the 349 schools, 300 are public and 49 are private.

Ancillae Assumpta is private, Catholic school for students from kindergarten through 8th grade. It's the fourth time the school has earned the distinction, after wins in 1986, 1991, and 2010.
It's also the first elementary school in Pennsylvania to ever be named a Blue Ribbon school.

Lansdale's Mater Dei Catholic School joined Mater Dei in representing Montco.
The coveted recognition is based on a school's overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups, the Department of Education explains.
"I'm pleased to celebrate with you as your school is named a National Blue Ribbon School," said U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos in a video message to the honorees. "We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives. Congratulations on your students' accomplishments and for your extraordinary commitment to meeting their unique needs."
This is the 36th year of the Blue Ribbon program.
