10 Billionaires From PA Among Richest Americans: New Forbes List
The richest person in PA is worth an estimated $28.9 billion as of Tuesday, as Forbes released its annual list of richest billionaires.

PENNSYLVANIA — Billionaire Jeff Yass is still the wealthiest person in Pennsylvania, according to The Forbes 400, an annual ranking of America’s super rich released Tuesday.
Overall, the 400 richest billionaires in America are worth $4.5 trillion, tying a record set in 2021. Overall, they are about $500 billion richer than they were a year ago, in large part because of rebounding stock markets and an AI-driven tech boom, Forbes said.
Billionaires had to have a net worth of at least $2.9 billion to be included on the prestigious list, a threshold slightly higher than $2.7 billion a year ago. Forbes said its net worth calculations use stock prices from Sept. 8.

Yass, 65, the richest person in Pennsylvania, is worth an estimated $28.9 billion (compared to $30 billion in 2022, and $12 billion in 2021). The trading and investments titan is is a cofounder of Susquehanna International Group, which invests in hundreds of private companies globally including the parent companyof TikTok. He was ranked No. 28 on the Forbes list nationally.

- Michael Rubin, Fanatics founder/ CEO and former owner of Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils. His net worth rose to $11.5 billion, from $10.2 billion in 2022. Rubin is 51 years old.
- Victoria Mars, who is heir to the family's giant candy and pet food company, Mars, Incorporated. Her net worth rose to $9.7 billion, from $9.3 billion in 2022. Mars is 66 years old.
- Arthur Dantchik, Susquehanna group cofounder and trader.. His net worth fell to $7.3 billion, compared to $7.5 billion in 2022. Dantchik is 65 years old.
- Thomas Hagen, chair of Erie Indemnity (which manages the Erie Insurance Exchange) . His net worth rose to $5.2 billion, from $4 billion in 2022. Hagen is 87.
- Jeffrey Lurie, owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, and family. Their net worth rose to $4.6 billion, compared to $4.4 billion in 2022. Lurie is 72.
- Maggie Hardy, returning to this list after a sharp decline in 2022, is the owner and CEO of 84 Lumber. Her net worth was reported as $4.1 billion. Hardy is 57.
- Mary Alice Dorrance Malone, a major Campbell’s Soup Co. shareholder. Her net worth fell to $3.7 billion, from $3.9 percent in 2022. Malone is 73.
- John Middleton, who sold his parent's tobacco company in 2007 for $2.9 billion in cash, and is also part-owner of the Philadelphia Phillies. His net worth rose from $3.4 billion in 2022 to $3.7 billion in 2023. Middleton is 68.
- Thomas Tull, a former film financier and founder of production company Legendary Entertainment. His net worth rose to $3 billion, from $2.9 billion last year. Tull is 53.
Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform X, tops the list for a second year with an estimated net worth of $251 billion — $90 billion richer than Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and No. 2 on the list, and $93 billion ahead of Oracle software development company founder Larry Ellison.
Forbes also tracked the charitable giving of every member of The Forbes 400, and scored each person on a scale of 1 (those who have given less than 1 percent of their wealth away so far) to 5 (those who have given at least 20 percent). The richest people in America are, so far, not all that generous. Two-thirds of them have given less than 5 percent of their wealth away so far; only 11 have donated 20 percent or more.
As for the Pennsylvania billionaires: Yass, Rubin, and Malone all got a score of 1. Dantchik, Hagen, the Lurie family, Middleton, and Tull got a score of 2 (meaning they have given away between 1 percent and 4.99 percent of their wealth). Hardy and Mars were not scored for philanthropy.
