The remnants of Hurricane Beryl approach the region as severe heat will now extend into Wednesday. See the latest:

EASTERN PA — Severe heat will linger through Wednesday as the remnants of Hurricane Beryl will bring two rounds of thunderstorms and possible torrential downpours to the greater Philadelphia area.

The heat advisory has been extended, with the dangerous heat index remaining around 105 on both Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters said.

The heaviest impacts of the coming storm are likely to miss southeastern Pennsylvania and target the Poconos on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the latest forecast. The National Weather Service has identified the I-78 corridor as a liminal point.

However, there does remain "some risk across the region," with the highest chance of rain starting on Wednesday morning after 7 a.m., and continuing through Thursday night.

A second chance for torrential rain and severe thunderstorms will come from a separate front on Friday and Friday night, and possibly Saturday morning, forecasters said.
