3 Dead In Christmas Weekend Crashes: Pennsylvania State Police

PENNSYLVANIA — Crashes over this year's Christmas holiday weekend across Pennsylvania were down compared to last year, but three people died and numerous crashes were alcohol related, Pennsylvania State Police said.
According to data from state police, there were 404 crashes across the state from Saturday to Monday. In 2022, police reported 661 crashes over the three-day Christmas period, and five of those were fatal, with two involving alcohol.
Of those crashes, 36 were alcohol related. Additionally, state police made 198 DUI arrests over the weekend.

Three people died in crashes over the holiday weekend, but state police said those fatal crashes did not involve alcohol. These crashes occurred in Montoursville and Lancaster on Christmas Eve, and in Pittsburgh on Christmas Day.
In total, 70 people were hurt in Christmas weekend crashes this year.

Troopers issued 1,036 speeding citations over the weekend, as well as 123 seatbelt violations, 22 child seat violations, and 2,853 other traffic violations.
