3 Dogs Found Shot Dead, PA State Police Investigating
Animal shelter officials said they believe the pit bulls might have been fighting dogs.
PENNSYLVANIA — Three dogs were found shot dead near the Pennsylvania border with New York last week, prompting an investigation from the Pennsylvania State Police.
The incident occurred sometime between Tuesday evening, Oct. 19, and Wednesday morning, Oct. 20, at Eaton Reservoir in Lackawanna County.
According to an incident report from the local ANNA Shelter Animal Cruelty Division, the dogs were walked into shallow water and shot dead and point blank range.

"Evidence gathered at the scene leads us to believe these were fighting dogs disposed of by a method commonly used by dog fighters," the shelter noted.
All three dogs were pit bulls. All three had multiple punctures and scars consistent with injuries sustained by fighting dogs, officials said.
